Our Team
Welcome! I’m Dr. Nyssa Petersen Ventura, a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Ventura Psychological Consulting. I bring over 15 years of experience across healthcare and educational settings, including school psychology, integrated primary care, outpatient mental health, and neuropsychological assessment. My path into psychology is both professional and personal. Growing up in a family affected by mental health challenges and complex life stressors gave me early insight into the unseen struggles many individuals and families face. Those experiences shaped my commitment to compassionate, integrative care that honors the connections between emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational well-being.
Today, I provide therapy, consultation, and comprehensive psychological assessments—including evaluations for autism, ADHD, and cognitive concerns—for children, adolescents, and adults. I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach, helping clients gain clarity about themselves and move toward meaningful change. My goal is to create a thoughtful, supportive space where people can better understand their experiences, identify their goals, and build a path forward.
Clinical Psychologist & FounderI believe healing happens when we honor the deep connection between mind, body, and spirit. My understanding of this began through time in nature, where stillness and connection to the natural world helped regulate my nervous system and cultivate inner awareness. This perspective deepened through my work as a massage therapist and my training in Ayurveda, where I learned to trust the body’s innate capacity for healing. These experiences ultimately led me to pursue counseling so I could support others in a more integrated and holistic way.
In 2019, after the birth of my daughter, I experienced a life-threatening postpartum hemorrhage that required an emergency hysterectomy. Walking through trauma and recovery—especially through Lifespan Integration therapy—deepened my appreciation for trauma-informed care and the resilience of the human nervous system. Today, my work integrates body-centered approaches, eco-therapy, depth psychology, and transpersonal perspectives. I strive to create a grounded, compassionate space where clients can process difficult experiences, reconnect with their inner wisdom, and move toward greater healing and wholeness.
